Millennium Lasers is currently developing a novel wood treatment process in partnership with Lignia (Fibre-7), Bangor University and Coventry University.
The aim is to enhance the mechanical properties of softwoods providing them with the typical characteristic of a hardwood. This work resulted in the development and installation of a pilot plant for the batch production of specialised wood.
Managing Director, Paul Mason says “we have completed the build and installation of a wood treatment pilot plant, this places Millennium Lasers at the forefront of ‘wood property’ enhancement via laser processing”. The pilot system will be used to produce a multitude of batch samples for customers throughout the world”.
The potential and scope for this technology is extremely large and the Company expects to lead this technology for the forseable future.
